Induction Programme

For each and every child (and their family) starting school represents the beginning of another important and exciting chapter in their lives. There are new challenges, opportunities and expectations. We work hard to ensure that each child has a successful transition into the school, giving them the best possible start.

As soon as you have confirmed your acceptance of a place at our school we will write to you informing you of our induction programme. You will also receive an invitation to attend the Family/Sports Day and any other special events we will be running during the second half of the Summer Term. If you should wish to bring your child to visit the school prior to starting please make an appointment with the office.

The induction programme consists of:

New Parents/carers induction meeting

Parents/carers will be provided with information about school procedures and policies. At this meeting parents/carers will be provided with an Induction pack giving them details of the school procedures, information about the Reception curriculum and documentation to be completed prior to their child starting school. The Reception staff will discuss the Early Years curriculum and talk about the activities which take place in the Reception class.

Children’s visits

The children starting school in the Autumn Term will visit the school during the previous Summer Term before they join the Owls class. There will be a programme of parent & child sessions and child only sessions in order to prepare yourselves and your child for this step into formal education and to give us an opportunity to welcome you into the life of Chipping Hill School.
