A celebration of the school’s history through the ‘eyes of a child’

We are trying to put together a history of the school from 1902 to the present day. We need your ideas and help in deciding what things should be included and how to record it for posterity.

The children in the school will be participating in a year long project starting September 2009 to capture the history of the school. It is our intention that the pupils will lead the project and become the ‘researchers’.

Some ideas we have so far are...

  • Create a temporary museum or exhibition
  • Write a book
  • Make a video
  • A performance
  • Put together time capsules to be embedded in the new school building
  • Write, perform and commit to CD a Chipping Hill School song
  • Work with an artist to transfer some of the heritage of our current site into the new school building

We are looking for lots of ideas to help us to capture the essence of Chipping Hill School. Can you help us?

Do you have further ideas?

Do you have photographs or artefacts from the history of the school which you would be willing to lend to the school?

Do you have stories/anecdotes to tell us?

Are you prepared to be interviewed by the pupils?

Would you like to get involved and work as part of a team to support the pupils with putting together the project?

Anyone who is interested or has any ideas for this project can either write to Mrs. Walker, Headteacher, or e-mail the school at admin@chippinghill.essex.sch.uk. (Please type HISTORY PROJECT in the title line, thank you).
